It is very important to me that I put this here before the rest of the post: JK Rowling is a terrible person, I do not support her or her transphobic views. Trans people are people and trans people have rights. JK Rowling is a TERF. If you want to separate the art from the artist then please don’t stream the films on Netflix and if that tv series does ever get made then don’t stream it from the source! Don’t buy the books or games or merch that is official because she gets money from it and she has said that she gives any money she gets from anything Harry Potter related to anti trans charities. Buy secondhand when you can.
All day I’ve been saying to myself that I should make something today. It could be anything, sewing, crochet, painting, using the sentro. I’ve spent most of today cuddled up in bed watching Waterloo Road, I finished the newest season a couple of days ago and immediately decided I needed to start from season 1. Finally I manage to get myself out of bed and decide I’m going to sew a heart shaped pillow for my half sister, Maddison-Hâf. I traced my own heart shaped pillow onto some paper and cut it out before ironing my fabrics and it was all going so well until the final section of the fabric when the electric stopped working.
I don’t know what to do in that situation so I finished the final section and sat there in the darkness for a while. It’s typical that right when I start making something that the electric turns off. I’ve been struggling recently to make things, I think it might be because I put so much effort into making the majority of gifts for christmas, I sewed, crocheted, and painted 37 pieces. I spent all of November and December making things. I wouldn’t change that because I did enjoy it all but I think that maybe that’s the reason I’ve slowed down on making things.
I have been writing lists of things that I want to make this year, I’ll be posting them on here to try and actually get some of the list done. There’s something about telling people what I want to do that actually makes me want to do them. If I don’t tell anyone then I just procrastinate and never get things done. On my sewing list I had written heart shaped pillow for Maddison. I already had the fabrics, a plain pink for the back and a quidditch pattern with pink background for the front. She’s only 5 but she’s become a massive Harry Potter fan. I had a bunch of sewing accessories for Christmas so I was able to start using them today. Everything was in place to make the cushion, except for the electricity of course.
The electric was sorted out and I was able to finish the pillow. It is the first item I’ve made this year. It’s not perfect but I’m pretty happy with it. Hopefully Maddison likes it!
